Electricity Generating Plc or EGCO Group has been selected for the 2026 Dow Jones Best-in-Class Indices (DJ BIC) in the Electric Utilities category within the Emerging Markets Index. Achieving the highest score in its group.
This recognition reflects EGCO Group’s long-standing commitment to sustainable growth across its power and energy-related businesses for over three decades. The company continues to drive its organization in alignment with the global energy transition and climate change goals to foster a low-carbon society.
Tawatchai Sumranwanich, president of EGCO Group, stated, “Sustainability has always been the cornerstone of EGCO Group’s strategic direction and business decisions.
He said “We ensure that our organizational growth generates long-term value for the economy, society, and the environment. Sustainability concepts are integrated into every aspect of our operations, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”
“Being selected for the 2026 DJ BIC is a testament to our commitment to responsible business practices and strengthens the confidence of our shareholders, investors, and stakeholders on a global scale.”

The selection for the 2026 DJ BIC was based on the 2025 Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA). In the Electric Utilities category for the Emerging Markets Index, only 3 companies were selected from a pool of 30 global participants.
EGCO Group delivered an outstanding performance, particularly in: Systematic Risk Management including proactive preparedness for emerging risks, Strategic Portfolio Management: increasing the proportion of renewable energy investments and driving innovative projects, Environmental Efficiency: implementing effective energy consumption reduction and air pollution control measures, and Human Resource Management: prioritizing quality of life, flexible working environments, and continuous employee development.
S&P Dow Jones Indices renamed a number of its sustainability and ESG-related indices in 2025, with the family of Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) becoming the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Indices (DJ BIC), effective 10 February 2025.
To better align with the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) participation timeline, S&P Dow Jones Indices has also updated the annual rebalancing schedule after the close of the last business day in April.
Prior to this rebranding, EGCO Group maintained its position as a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) for five consecutive years, from 2020 to 2024.
